Is airbrush makeup available as an option for clients/brides?
Believe it or not- every client/bride you've seen has not been "airbrushed"- Joy is very knowledgeable and certified in airbrush, however she just isn't ever fully happy with the final result of airbrushing and CHOOSES not to use it on her clients.
Keep in mind Airbrushing is a technique NOT an overall finish. She doesn't find it lasts longer, looks any more flawless, or transfers any less. She encourages all her brides who have their hearts set on airbrush to try a trial with an artist who offers it, (after all that's what trials are for) and then come for a trial with Joy. Compare photos, longevity, overall look, and pick what's best for YOU!
We do use a product called AIRFLASH by Dior Cosmetics, on some brides and many bridesmaids, a form of airbrush makeup. Airflash is an Airbrush/Traditional Foundation hybrid that provides the skin a skin-like lightweight flawless coverage. Joy customizes every trial to YOU as the bride and may use a different more fitting foundation for your needs, however, but this is an option!
Is there a minimum to book you for bridal services?
Yes. There is a $500 minimum in wedding day services for Joy, and her artists.
Is gratuity included in your pricing?
No, gratuity is not included in base pricing you see listed, but all weddings will have an automatic 20% gratuity added for all services - this will be seen on your final invoice.
Do you accept partial payments or payment from individual party member payments?
No. All payments by party members need to be collected by the Bride. We accept only one FULL payment of the total invoiced amount, this is due the day of the wedding.
I don't know my exact headcount right now. How long do I have to finalize?
NOT TO WORRY! We only take one wedding a day for this exact reason! We know how wedding planning goes! Headcounts need to be finalized at about 100 days out, that's when we send out our questionnaire and then get started with scheduling. In some cases, if you know your party is going to be very large or small, please note this to Joy so she can pre-plan for additional artists, or let her artist take the day. But nothing is set in stone till 90 days out.
How do I book my wedding date and trial?
Please note that you cannot directly book wedding services with us - you must first confirm your date availability with Joy. Click here to go to our bridal inquiry form!
If your requested date is available, a $50 non-refundable fee will be required to reserve our services (this fee only reserves your date, not our current pricing). Please allow us 7-14 business days to respond to your inquiry. We only book one wedding a day, to ensure the best service, open availability, so our dates book up quickly!
We don't need any concrete information up front, or signed contracts. We book years in advance, so we know it becomes challenging to know so much information up front!
How do I book my trial?
Click here to open up our direct booking - you'll want to select the "Hair & Makeup Ultimate Bridal Trial" service. We suggest a weekday for all trials. This must be booked no later than 30 days prior to the wedding date.
What if I want to book my trial before paying any deposits?
Great question! Due to high demand of dates, we cannot book trials prior to booking the wedding date. We require no % up front, we just ask you pay the booking fee, and then you're welcome to book your trial as soon as you'd like too to be sure we are a good fit for you!
How does the booking fee work, is that a deposit?
The $50 fee is due to book your wedding date with us! The fee is NON REFUNDABLE, and cannot be transferred to another date (ex: you decide to cancel Joy's services, cancel your wedding, move the date to a date, etc.).This $50 is compensation for Joy (and her team, if applicable) for taking the day off, and denying other inquiring clients for that day too!
It is important to note, this fee just books your day and does not ensure prices when booked, travel policies, etc. No contracts are signed when booking fee is received.
How does travel work, can Joy travel long distances, & is there a fee?
YES! It's $1 per min, there and back from Joy's Studio location in St. Louis, 63139. Please note that you will need to inquire about these appointments prior to booking them online.
Out Of Town Weddings- anything over an hour of travel needs to be inquired with Joy. Out of state flight rates can also be discussed if driving is not an option for Joy, with a hotel stay provided and meal fees. Joy will also charge a daily fee for time away of $100, as Joy wouldn't normally be away from her studio, so the pricing reflects LOST business.
What if I want Joy to come to multiple locations?
There is a relocation fee of $50 per artist that will be added if you wish to have our stylist travel to one locations (such as a hotel) unpack/pack then travel to an additional location (such as a venue).
How does Joy do large bridal parties?
Easy, she has a wonderful team of artists she trusts and has worked with for years. They have a similar style to hers and they go through one-on-one lessons with Joy monthly! Check out Joy's team here.
If any party is too large for our team, Joy has other artists she trusts and knows that she can call, as long as ample time is given to contact and confirm with the artist(s).

How do I book a regular appointment (non-bridal) with Joy?
Does Joy have a cancellation fee?
Yes, $50 will be taken from your card for any late or no show appointments. For weddings, large parties, or special events this will be in the contracted service agreement.
Does Joy cater to all types of skin tone?
Joy has worked with every skin tone, type and texture and has years of experience working with all races, ages and sexes. The answer is YES absolutely!
I have hair extensions, can Joy still do my hair?
YES! Joy has worked with extensions for years, it all depends on the type of extensions. This can be talked about during your consultation!
I don't want to get lashes, do I still owe the full cost of the makeup?
Yes, Joy's base price for a full face is $90, with or without lashes. You can choose to get lashes, or pass on them, but the price will stay at that price for the hour service. She almost always recommends them for any special occasion!
What line does Joy use?
Anything that is a good product! Joy is a trained makeup artist by MAC Cosmetics, but she uses many other brands; Laura Mercier, Nars, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Too Faced, Dior, Tarte, etc. She adores many lines, and only uses products that she feels are the best for her clients needs!
I don't normally wear makeup, and don't want to look over done!
Joy is highly skilled at LISTENING! She looks into what you want, who you are, takes into account what your normal day to day look is like! She will ask questions to find what is best for you, but she will also give you advise on what she feels you will love and be comfortable with! Don't hesitate to voice your choice of comfort!
I don't know what kind of look I want, can Joy help me with that?
Yes! Look for inspiration! Look at magazines, look through Instagram, Pinterest; Keep in mind these photos are for inspiration and to show Joy the expectations you have for your look's outcome. During your consult Joy can also suggest colors or looks that compliment YOU.
Is it possible to buy makeup from Joy?
Not at the moment. Joy does not sell products. However, she can make recommendations for you to buy! In fact, she provides a chart of products used if requested at the end of your service, with locations you can purchase.
Can Joy teach me to do my own makeup?
Absolutely, she offers one on one lessons with her clients! You can book your lesson here. She even offers a service add on to record the lesson and a video will be sent directly to you within 2 business days!
If you want to use your own personal makeup and just learn to use what you have better, Joy is more then willing to work your current items into her lesson.
